Here are our top 5 Kitchen Hacks:

Revive herbs and leafy greens

You’re not always the same person you were when you went grocery shopping last week. Sometimes meal preps fall through the crack and Ubering your eats sounds like a good idea. Life generally gets in the way and you neglect cooking for a little while. By the time you’re back in your zone, you find your refrigerator full of wilted leafy greens and herbs. To revive them, slightly trim the stems of the wilted herbs or leafy greens and put them in a jar of water, like a bouquet. Place the jar in a cool place for a few hours or overnight.

Burnt Pots

Hey, multitasker! We’ve all been there – cooking gets away from us, and suddenly we’re left with a burnt pot. Don’t stress, here’s a hack to save the day. Cover the burnt areas of your pot or pan with equal parts water and vinegar and bring to a boil. Allow the mixture to cool down, pour it out and scrub the pot. For those stubborn burns, boil vinegar in the pot, and add baking powder, after cooling it down slightly.

Air Fryer Technique

Did you give in to the hype and buy an air fryer after seeing all those raving reviews on TikTok and Twitter? Well, good for you! We agree it’s a game-changer, but sometimes it needs a little help to achieve that perfect crispiness we crave. Spritz a little cooking spray on your food before popping it into the air fryer. This simple step will ensure your roasts come out with that scrumptious golden brown crisp we all love.

Make your avocados last longer

It’s avo season, and as a generation, we can’t deny our love for avocado toast (ask the Boomers!). They can be a bit delicate to store, but we’ve got a hack that will keep them fresh and ready to enjoy. After using half of your avocado, rub a bit of olive oil on the remainder, place it in an airtight container, and store it in the fridge. This trick will help prevent browning and extend the life of your avos.

Add flavour to your everyday

Life gets a little mundane and it can feel like you’re stuck in a vortex of repetitive tasks and activities. It happens to the best of us, but you have the power to add some zing to your everyday. We recommend, the following essentials – Soweto Original Hot Sauce, Soweto Chilli Lime Sauce, Soweto Smokey Garlic Sauce and Chunkalaka. Dash these sauces over your air-fried meals, drizzle them into your guacamole or use them as a dip; the choice is yours. They are guaranteed to elevate your everyday dining experience.

There is so much fun to be had in the kitchen and we hope these hacks will help make the kitchen your happy place too. Now that you’re in the loop, spread the love and share this post with a friend or two. Happy cooking and enjoy the delicious rewards that await you!
