Ingredients for the beef mince:

400g of lean ground beef

Finely chopped medium-sized white onion

1 large tomato, chopped

180ml beef stock

Soweto Smokey Garlic Sauce

3 cloves of minced garlic

Chilli powder

Ground cumin

Black pepper

Toss the onions and garlic into preheated oil and let them sizzle until they turn beautifully golden brown.

Sprinkle in chilli powder, cumin, black pepper, and salt to the mix and stir evenly.

Add ground beef and cook until it turns a delightful shade of brown.

Enhance the flavours by adding tomatoes and beef stock.

Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavours to meld together into pure perfection.

Now, let’s move on to smashing the patties!

Gather the following ingredients for the patties:

800g of lean beef mince

Half an onion, thinly sliced onion

Soweto Smokey Garlic Sauce

Black pepper

Garlic powder

Season the beef mince and divide it into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball.

Top each beef ball with slices of onion.

Heat a pan over medium-high heat and lightly grease it with oil or cooking spray.

Place each beef ball onto the hot surface and use a sturdy spatula or burger press to smash them into thin patties.

Let the patties cook for a couple of minutes on each side, ensuring they develop a beautiful crust.

Place a slice of cheese on top of each patty, followed by a generous drizzle of the Smokey Garlic.

Remove the patties from the heat and let them rest.

While the patties rest, let’s prepare the burger buns.

4 soft burger buns

Sliced jalapenos (for those who love the heat)

Cut the burger buns in half and toast them to golden perfection.

Spread a layer of mayonnaise on the bottom burger buns.

Now to assemble the chilli-cheese smash burger:

Place the chilli-cheese patties over the mayonnaise.

Layer on the beef mince sauce.

(Optional) add sliced jalapenos

Finally, crown your chilli cheese smash burger with the top half of the burger bun.
